1966 - Life Magazine

The photo below, showing former Rankin navigator C. W. "Willie" Albaugh, was prominently published in LIFE magazine in 1966. The caption read:

LOOK SHARP, MARINE, AND PRESS ON
Now hear this! Men, this is it. All units of the Third Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, N.C., will fall out at dockside at oh-eight-hundred, full weaponry and packs. You will then go aboard the U. S. Navy transport Telfair. Nature of exercise: training cruise, Mediterranean. For those of you who may be chosen to take part in any landing operations, you've all been fully briefed on the kind of resistance you're likely to meet on those Riviera beaches. To make any headway you'll have to be sharp, razor-sharp, and that includes your trouser creases. Pfc. David Miller of I Company will be in charge of the Ironing Board, M-1. All right, Marines, press on!
