This is the website for a Powerball and Mega Millions lottery pool with about a hundred participants. About half of us served aboard the USS Rankin (AKA-103), an attack cargo ship in commission from 1945 to 1971. Most of the others learned about us on the Internet.
We have a lot of fun playing these multistate lotteries, and of course we hope to hit the Jackpot one day. We are encouraged by the fact that we've won money in over 1,500 consecutive drawings since 2007.
We operate honestly and openly, and every dollar contributed to the pool is used to buy lottery tickets. You can get more information by following the links at the top of this page.
The pool is run by Louis "Skip" Sander, who served on the Rankin in 1961-1963. It is run for the benefit of the participants, and is not an activity of The USS Rankin Association. We just piggyback on their website and email.

LOTTERY POOL #36 RESULTS – MEGA MILLIONS AND POWERBALL
We use a highly-developed Excel workbook to keep track of everything about each pool, including our players, the numbers we play, the jackpots, and our winnings. It is used in creating this table, which is typically updated within a few hours of each drawing. There are occasional delays of a day or more, usually when our webmaster is out of town. The record of Tweets at the top of this page is almost always up-to-date.

* Jackpot figures are estimates from lottery officials. Mega Millions annuities are paid out over 25 years, Powerball annuities over 30. Cash values are paid out immediately. Jackpot winners almost always choose a cash payout. Figures for Jackpots qualifying for Big Jackpots play are shown in green. Jackpots actually won are shown in gold.
** We need to sell 100 shares to buy a full complement of tickets without dipping into our reserves. If we don't have that many by the start of Week 3, we actively solicit additional players. "Cash Value of 1 Share After Taxes" is the estimated after tax winnings of each share if we take our winnings in cash, which almost all winners do. Taxes are estimated at 35%.
*** The data in this table are believed to be accurate, but are for informational purposes only. Actual winnings will be known when tickets are redeemed at the end of the pool, and will be reported to participants at that time.
