The USS Rankin Association's Eighth Annual Reunion was held in Charleston, South Carolina, from October 6-9, 2011, at the Sheraton Airport Hotel. The reunion was held jointly with the USS Muliphen Association. There were 75 attendees from the Rankin and 29 from the Muliphen, for a total of 104. A good time was had by all.
Friday featured a "Civil War in Charleston" tour, including a trip to The Citadel. Lunch was on our own in the charming Charleston City Market. The day's highlight was a long visit to the Warren Lasch Conservation Center, where the Confederate submarine H. L. Hunley is being restored after 137 years on the bottom of Charleston Harbor.
Saturday was spent at Patriots Point, the world's largest naval and maritime museum. The group spent most of its time aboard USS Yorktown (CV-10). A high point of the time on board was lunch in the CPO Mess.
For this reunion, we have this Main Page plus two others. Use the buttons below to view the 2011 Reunion Memory Book, including pictures of all attendees and a recap of all our activities, or to view other photos from the reunion.
