2005 Reunion – San Diego
The USS Rankin Association's Second Annual Reunion was held in San Diego, California, from September 29 - October 2, 2005, at the Red Lion Hanalei hotel. There were 83 people in attendance.
On Friday, two motorized trolleys took us on a tour of San Diego, including stops at the Navy Base, the famous Del Coronado Hotel, and Seaport Village. Afterwards, many of us boarded two amphibious SEAL vehicles for a cruise around San Diego harbor.
Saturday featured visits to the active duty ship USS Decatur (DDG-73) and the museum ship USS Midway (CV-41), followed by an unforgettable close-up view of San Diego Fleet Week's Parade of Ships and Air Show.
